Tenth Annual Jamie Hess Swim Marathon
Attached is information regarding our annual swim marathon. We will hold the swim marathon on June 23 during practice. This would have been Jamie Hess’s 20th birthday. You will find information on Jamie and the history of his fund, as well as a pledge sheet your swimmer(s) can use to raise money for this noble cause. Please educate your swimmers as to who Jamie was and the role that he continues to play on our team and in our community.
To website visitors from other teams: if you would like to help us and make a contribution to this annual effort, please email ashlandbarracuda@comcast.net for information on how to do so.
As in the past, we are looking forward to a visit from the Hess family who will help us count lengths and provide refreshments for the day.

First of all, thanks to everyone who helped the meet run smoothly tonight. Also congratulations to our new swimmers who competed in their first ever swim meets tonight. We have swimmers in each of the age groups who are new to the sport. We also have a large number of previous swimmers who are new to our team. We are pleased to have all of you.
Finally, with school ending tomorrow, the pool will open at 1:30, so we will not be able to practice. (We had not mentioned this because if tonight’s meet had been thundered out, the Town was going to let us finish it tomorrow, and we didn’t want to create confusion by saying that there was no practice because the pool was open and then turn around and say that we could have the meet even though the pool was supposed to be opened. We dodged the thunderstorm for Week 1!) So celebrate the Best Day of the Year by going to play at the pool tomorrow, and spend plenty of time there over a long weekend. We will look forward to seeing everyone on Monday as we begin morning practices and look forward to a steady practice schedule after a more unusual opening few weeks for practice.
Thanks to the Patrick Henry YMCA
Special thanks to the PHYMCA for helping us with our diving certifications again this year. The Y continues to support our team by providing pool time at reasonable times for a reasonable rate to help us certify our swimmers for diving instruction.
News on the Pool
Folks who drove by the park this afternoon saw a full pool! The water will cycle through the filter overnight, and hopefully the pool will open for business for the weekend. It’s supposed to be hot- but more bearable- so feel free to do some hanging out this weekend a the pool.
